with this class today we’re gonna do 2.4 which is configure verify and
troubleshoot we did the configuration part in the last video so this video
we’re going to look at the verification part and verification is very very
important it’s part of your learning process when you know verification
commands and if you know what is available and what command that is going
to help you in your troubleshooting right but before we start the video I
need to apologize because there’s been a very very bad mistake in the last video
part of the OSPF dr vidya relation I said OSPF process number and then route
ID that’s that’s the preference but actually it’s not OSPF process number it
is also a priority so it first looks at those fifth priority of all the devices
and if the priority matches it looks like that’s our ID so apologize
for that mistake and I think this is a side effect of recording videos in the
middle of the night I think the last video was recorded at 2:00 a.m. but not
that this video is any different it is at the moment 2:45 a.m. so but yeah this
is the only way I have time no this is only way where I can assign time for
this project to complete this project as soon as possible there been some the
things happening on my personal front and that is the reason I couldn’t record
a video in the last two months so I literally did not watch that video
the last time I recorded the video at 2 a.m. by about 3:00 3:30 in the morning I
had I think 3:30 or 4 I don’t remember by about 5 before I went to bed I edited
the video and uploaded it online and so I did not have a chance to check the
video I didn’t have a chance to talk normally before I upload a video I I
played once and I see this an error sometimes some errors I just left past
because the effort to go in ahead and rerecord something and you know
corrected it’s too much so I tend to put the errors in the description so I just
say it this is the this is the mistake and then you know you need to change
this but the last video I just did not have time to go through so I did not
even cat set error until now just before I started recording this video I want
you to know what I did in the last video so I went and I played that video on
YouTube and I realized that was a that was a real bad mistake I mean always
face priorities different for most people society and I don’t know why is
it always PF process ID but I didn’t have anybody come comment not generally
you guys are very very sharp in your criticism and for some reason I didn’t
get any one comment on that and say that anon what he said was wrong and had I
had I got that comment but I keep reading the comments
I didn’t find this comment I don’t think so anybody commented saying that this
particular information was wrong anyway just to clear there this is Oh Smith
priority that’s the number one to check those Peas priority for all the devices
and the most likely by before those priority is one for the devices so it’s
a time and then it looks at around tiny and then we know how router IDs sign to
each device and the the best idea wins the election and you know what happens
after that right so that’s what that we look at Oh
five verification commands and this verification commands you need to know
what is available at what verification come on you might have a cc in the
question which says which of this verification command do you does it show
the route writing so you need to know which which verification command would
display the route writing right so these are the level you need to know what at
least if not everything you need to know the most important bits of information
that you can find in these verification command
so the first verification commands we’re going to look at is show IP protocols
the information that you can find or the clinical information that you can find
there is router ID number of configured area the network command and the round
information sources right so let’s look at this from packet tracer alright so
this is the same to polish that we worked on in the last video so let’s go
to route 1 so in Rada one let’s try show IP
protocols and then we see this information says routing protocol is
OSPF one then it says router IDs without ID of this particular device is given
here it says there is only one area that is configured obviously if it’s a single
area it has to be areas 0 then it gives the information of the network so
basically what are the networks that this particular router this particular
way of process rather is advertising so it’s advertising
these OSPF I mean these networks round information sources or information
sources at the moment it is only seeing these two devices and that’s because I
think because I we just started this packet tracer topology so the neighbors
are still being formed so I think after we put that command is just as the
change happened loading the full loading the full so three and four went to full
only after we did so if we do the same command again I think we’ll have more
yeah you can see it here one while these are the five routers and the router ID
is given here which are the information sources for this OSPF protocol right so
this is your first verification command the next verification command is show IP
ospf and the part of information is router
and process IDs area numbers and it will tell you if there is authentication
happening for in between these OSPF routers and the number of time SPF is
executed right so show IP ospf and then you will see that here you would see it
is running OSPF one with a router ID of one or one or two dot one so again in
this verification command also the router ID is mentioned it tells that
this is an area backbone that’s area zero it has number of interface that is
connected to this is four and we looked at those interfaces
it looks at whatever it was yes the SPF algorithm was run three times so we know
that SPF algorithm is recalculated every time there is a change in the topology
so since this is just starting up when it received the first let’s say second
let’s say the LS DB got changed and every time the change happening we
calculated the SPF was really cute and then the routing table was populated
right and the area has no authentication – it’s not Authenticator there’s no
authentication for communication between these devices the next routing
verification command that you’re gonna look at is
show IP ospf interfaces now this will tell the physical state of interface it
will tell the IP information it will tell router ID network type it will also
give you dr and period information if it’s a broadcast network it would also
tell you the timer configurations or time or values that’s configured and
then add sensitive information so let’s have a look at it from packet tracer
show IP ospf interface and then we see let’s just expand this we see this
loopback 0 and it says it is a loopback interface it has the IP address
information the cost is 1 loopback one so if you know R or ID is if it’s not
physically fits not statically configured using the command router ID
the next best thing it looks at is loopback interfaces off the loopback
interfaces if you have more than one it looks at the large number so in this
case this is a larger number and that’s why the router ID for this particular
router in OSPF is 1.1 or 2.1 right that’s how the router ID is chosen so
the next interface is Gigabit Ethernet 0/0 and the IP address is 191 6501 it is
a broadcast network and the cost is 1 we discussed the cost how the cost is
calculated so I’m not going through that the state of this particular device is
dr other and the designated router is 4.4.4 the interface through which it’s
accessible is 1.19 to 160 or 1.4 BDR is 3.0 303 and the interface through which
it is config accessible is 1.3 the hello time is 10 dead time has four times
hello time’ then it says neighbors it has three
neighbors adjacent neighbor count is two that means it has gone into
full adjacency with two that’s I mean if you remember when we discussed last
video and we will look at it when we look at the neighbor table with the BD R
and D are it’s going to have full and the other D our other device like you’ll
have one more the other the rod one is the another this or to
also do other so with the other it is only have good to have a two-way
adjacency right so it says I just sent is with two it has three neighbors but
only with two it has full logistics and that is router 3 which is dr rod 4 which
is dr and router 3 which is BTR the serial connection so this connection it
is a point-to-point network so point-to-point network will not have dr
and PDR so it says no dr no BDR the cost is 64 and you have the same
hello time and date time information right so it has a Justin C with it has
only one neighbor and this adjacent with one neighbor right which is understood
because it’s a point-to-point network the next verification command is show IP
ospf neighbor and in this verification command you’re gonna look at neighbor
router IDs priorities as adjacency States Gateway information dead timer
and interface information let us look at this from packet tracer so show IP ospf
neighbor and then we see that we have 4 neighbors and 2 of them in these are 3
in the broadcast networks who in the progress network 2 of them you have full
adjacency one is in two-way which is the dr other and firefighter 5 is part of
the point 4 network and that’s why you see this information is blank so one
when you see this information blank you need to know that is a point for network
if it is a broadcast network you would have it has to take one of these values
b dr dr other or dr 3.0 3 is b dr it’s a full adjacency it is accessible through
one extra 168 one of three through this physical interface and this fighter 5.5
is also in full largest in sea state and it’s a point-to-point network and it is
accessible through the serial interface right so this is the neighbor table the
next a verification command is show IP ospf database this is nothing but the
link state database let’s look at it from packet tracer show IP or
PF database and we see I mean of course there is a router ID here we get the
router ID information and then we have this this is a router links here so
that’s links LSF type type one we don’t really need to look at LSA types but
just so that you know these are all the routers that is taking part in this OSPF
right so every device in this OSPF area zero should have a same LSD be right it
should all have these five devices listed and then they do their own SPF
algorithm to populate the routing table right so this is what links in database
would give this information should be there in the links team database so
that’s about the five verification command before you go I’m gonna give you
one new thing so this is a topology this is a partially configured topology I
have configured OSPF partially but there are a few more things that you need to
do I’m gonna put this for download on the website so go to the store and find
de for resources or something like that I would leave the link to the store in
the description below so click on map and download this it’s gonna be free
what we need to establish is you need to have PC 0 we we need to have the pc 0
ping 2 PC 2 & 3 C 0 should also be able to ping to PC 1 and PC 1 and PC 2 should
be able to ping each other right so you need to go to each of these routers and
see why that’s not happening at the moment it is not happening you need to
find out why it’s not happening and then when you know what it is configure that
solve the problem and come back here and comment your answers in the comments
section below right so you should you can say for step 1 this is what I did
step 2 this is what I did step 3 this is what I did and then this is Hawaii
or to contribution in the next video what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna take
this again and then I’m trying to solve I will solve it on on the next video so
that’s going to be a start of contribution so then we will look at
configuration we will design a network and then we will configure that will
give us configuration idea and then you can follow with me
and also we would do a troubleshooting in in the next video so we’ll take one
network and why does not doing and then we’ll do a live troubleshooting so
that’s going to be the next video this video I just want to do one correct the
mistake of the last video to get back to ways of recording so we want to now
start finishing this is our last you know last run so I’m just gonna do that
last run maybe another 20 videos I want to finish this series it’s taken a very
very long time I understand a lot of people are frustrated but I had no other
option I had to do it this way or not do this series at all right let’s hope
things change there are a few things like I said I’ve changed my past life so
things are gonna be better and I think it’s gonna be good time stuff so stay

  2. When I subscribed your channel in2017 that was my first day started CCNA few months before I finished ccie with CCNA security and you have not complete your CCNA video

  3. I downloaded the Lab and had to set each router to advertise the 192.168.2/3/5 networks. I was then able to ping. The 4.0 network is not in use from what I can tell and appears to be a typo.

    Imram, thanks for putting these videos together. Now get some sleep.

  14. Can't download a packet tracer file. When I put into a cart an item and trying to fill a form I got 2 rolling circles in the bottom of the screen (in the area when Place order button is) and cannot press the Place order button. Could you please fix it or upload a file somwere else?

All routers has a missing network segment in the OSPF advertisement…i have compare the network segment from the show run assigned IP address in the ports and network segment declared in OSPF network segment. From there you'll get all missing network segment…need to declare these network segments your OSPF networks..

  16. The lab was pretty easy. On all the routers do a "show ip protocols" command and you will see which networks are missing an OSPF entry. For router 5 it was missing It can be added with the following commands.
    Router(config)#router ospf 1

    Router(config-router)#network area 0

    Routers 2 and 3 are missing the and networks respectively. Adding those in with the same command from above is all you need and the pings start succeeding.
