Self Discipline Should Begin In The Home – Andrew Carnegie

Then you believe that self-discipline should
begin in the home, and it should be demonstrated by the parents, in the form of thrift, ambition
and self-reliance? The home is the first place where a child
gets its impressions of life, and it is here that the child often acquires habits of failure
that endure throughout life. Trace the record of any successful person
and you will find that somewhere, probably during his early childhood, he came under
the influence of some success-conscious person, perhaps a member of his own family, or a near
relative. When a person once acquires a success-consciousness,
he seldom allows it to be stifled through defeat. You might say that success-consciousness gives
one a sort of immunity against all forms of defeat.
